What is Slow Money Northeast Kansas?
Slow Money Northeast Kansas is rapidly outgrowing its name, now representing a network that spans the Kansas-Missouri state line including urban agriculturists in metropolitan Kansas City, as well as small family farms, specialty crop producers, and grazing operations dotting the countryside of rural Kansas and Missouri.
Here in the agricultural heartland of the Midwest, Slow Money is helping connect farmers and food entrepreneurs with much needed capital by building relationships across sectors. We are a friendly group of farm and food advocates, non profit leaders, bankers, financial managers, young farmers, ranchers, philanthropists and interested citizens—an eclectic group of folks who take seriously the Slow Money principle that a healthy future depends, in part, on slowing money down and investing from the ground up.
Slow Money Northeast Kansas is not an investment club. There is no membership fee or investment capability required to participate in our network. All are welcome! In our first year, nearly one quarter million dollars in Slow Money loans have been made.
The Slow Money Principles
In order to enhance food security, food safety and food access; improve nutrition and health; promote cultural, ecological and economic diversity; and accelerate the transition from an economy based on extraction and consumption to an economy based on preservation and restoration, we do hereby affirm the following Slow Money Principles.
