Wisconsin Farmers Union, working in partnership with a range of Midwest organizations, will again convene the Midwest CSA Conference, December 3-4, 2015 in Eau Claire at The Plaza Hotel.
With the continued growth of the CSA movement in the Midwest comes opportunities and complexities. The conference will provide a forum for CSA farmers and advocates to come together for deliberative discussion and peer-to-peer learning. Full-group sessions, including a keynote by Steven McFadden, author of the newly released Awakening Community Intelligence: CSA Farms as 21st Century Cornerstones, will discuss shared values of the movement and strategies for promoting cooperation and shared risk among farms and communities.
A set of workshop tracks, each with four workshops, will provide hands-on and peer-to-peer learning for CSA farmers in the areas of:
- Beginning CSA Farming
- Production & Logistics
- Building Community
- Financial Management & Business Planning
The Early Bird rate for the conference is $135 per person, which includes all meals. Bring additional people from your farm or organization for the discounted rate of $95 a person. The Early Bird Rate, along with conference rates at the Plaza Hotel, go through Nov. 9, 2015.
The conference begins with registration from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Thurs., Dec. 3rd and the first workshop will begin at 1:30 p.m. The conference will wrap up on Fri., Dec. 4th by 4:30pm.
