Farm Tour for Transitioning Soldiers and Veterans
April 29, 2016 @ 8:30 am - 3:30 pm CDT
Hosted by Servicemember Agricultural Vocation Education (SAVE) and Kansas AgrAbility
Purpose: On-site learning about farming with a disability.
We will visit two farms operated by farmers who continue to farm with disabilities.
The first farmer we visit has a typical Kansas farm with row crops and livestock. He is in a wheelchair and will demonstrate assistive technology used to help him access his farm equipment and work livestock.
The second farmer we visit has lower extremity mobility issues and uses a high tunnel (hoophouse) to grow vegetable crops.
